Clyde Murphy

Meet Clyde Murphy. He was my Elf on the Shelf during Christmas. I will try to post some of the photos I posted on FB during the month of Dec.

service repairmen

Recently I called the service department of a place where I had purchased my dishwasher, 6 years ago.  I told them it was making a noise and the arm wasn't spinning. I asked if there was something simple I could try first before having to pay a service call. They said no. It was most likely the pump as that is a common problem. I said I'd call back. I googled the problem and followed what a guy said to try. It worked. The arm had become partly unhooked so I snapped it back into place.

Today my refrigerator started making the sound of an air raid.  I unplugged it and called a service dept. from where I purchased it, maybe 7 years ago. I explained the noise and  was told it would cost a service call to confirm what he suspected which was the evaporator fan would need to be replaced. Then it would naturally be the cost of the new fan plus another service call. I asked if there was something I could try first incase it wasn't what he thought. He said no, this was common with refrigerators. I said I'd call back. I googled it and followed what a guy said he did to fix the noise. IT WORKED! All I needed was my hair dryer. So far, so good. It has been working for several hours without the noise. I'm feeling really proud of myself.

I'm Back!

I had joined Facebook as a way to keep in touch with family and friends.  But lately, Facebook had become too political with nasty comments and shared posts that have nothing to do with family or friends so I am returning to my blog.
A lot has happened during my absence from my blog. My CLL/SLL is still active. My husband of 18 years didn't want to stick around to see how it would play out and moved out April 30, 2014. I filed for divorce and he moved on with someone else with in 2 months.  He has made it as hard as he can for me. The division of assets is still in the court system. His attorney finds a way to stretch it out. All I will say is, I wish him well. This is only a stumbling block that I have turned into a stepping stone to other possibilities.
I became a license foster parent last year. I really needed to put a positive focus in my life and felt helping children in need would be a win-win situation. I've had only 2 placements. The first was very rewarding and I loved every minute of it. It was painful when an aunt came forward to adopt but family is family so it worked out well. The 2nd placement was the opposite on all levels. I had this placement for a very short time as it was out of my comfort zone.  I have decided to concentrate on my health before taking more placements.
Enough for now, but soon I will introduce you to the one in my life now, Mr. Clyde Murphy.

The full moon shining overhead
With stars that shine as bright,
Secretly holds the promise
Of a quiet romantic night.

A breeze of tender lullabies
Slowly fills the air,
To caress those most fortunate
To have someone who cares.

The rhythm of two hearts...beat
Longing to be heard.
Revealing eyes tell closeness
With unspoken words.

The moment molds a memory
That's pressed into the mind,
Preciously it's kept alive
Preserved through passing time.

But some are not so fortunate
Memories are of dreams,
And the aura of the light
Is not as bright as it should seem.

And some of us have no one
To share this special night
And the breeze is a reminder
Of a cold and lonely night.

Tears ever so near cover my face like the rain
And leaves an impression from exposure to pain.

I try to catch my dreams but they're quick to fade
Into the shadows of which they were made.

Forever it seems has been here and gone,
But time is what's needed for the heart to grow strong.

Time fills with promise, patiently waits,
Time fills with hope as the tears dissipate.

Shadows of dreams begin to take form,
Protecting desires, time weathers the storm.

His Light Will Overpower

Like a candle burning desperately,
Trying to shed it's light
Into the powerful darkness
Of the fears I try to fight.
Sometimes it starts to flicker
And the light grows very dim,
I feel my strength begin to fade
As uncertainty seeps in.
With shadows of confusion
That clings to every breath,
I reach out to grasp my FAITH
That will put my mind to rest.
And with this FAITH, I'll face my fears
That's filled my life with doubt,
And HIS light will overpower
As the candle, finally burns out.

Best christmas present ever!

Last Christmas I hit a home run in picking a present for my hubby.
I told him his present will be a dog but we need to decide on what kind,
size and temperament. We agreed on a small dog, short hair or one that doesn't shed,
a mellow temperament (since we are grandparents), Not one that chews on furniture or digs holes in the yard. Does that sound like I asked for too much in a little furry friend?
Well, in the paper appeared a dog, free to a good home. This dog lived on a ranch and Bob was so excited to take a look. He said we we NOT going to decide but just take a look. I agreed since our search had just begun. Within a few minutes of meeting "Katie" my hubby had fell in love with her. How could I say NO. He already was saying she was "the best Christmas present ever!" Remember, she came from a ranch and her full name was Cattle Kate. She is part Jack Russell and part border collie. She was great at herding cattle but also liked to herd the horses and chickens....Need I say more?
She was just 1 year old. This puppy has ADHD I am sure of it. Within the first week so had chewed the wood legs on our occasional chair in the living room, knocked a 200 dollar lamp off the end table and broke it because she was running in a full circle in the living room. She was running too fast for us to catch her! She has dug holes in our back yard, and gets excited and pees on the carpet when company rings the doorbell. We have since taken her to obedience school. She is very smart but has a never ending supply of energy. We take her for walks and when we let her off the leash, she tries to herd us! She demands attention all the time.
This year I wanted to get her a boy for Christmas. A boy with her energy level, but since that wasn't possible, she got lots of toys and doggy bones and Christmas for me, I prayed for patience.......
